My mum and dad came to New Zealand by plane together from Sydney,
Australia in 2004. However they had very different childhoods.
My mum lived in Australia in a house with her mum, grandma and uncle.
As a child she enjoyed craft and swimming. Her family would hear of news
from the TV or radio. She remembers her grandma always got her nails done
on a Sunday morning and sometimes the nail tech would paint her nails also.
My nana travelled to New Zealand by plane in 2008 from Sydney,
Australia. She lived in a house with 4 people and her first memory
was watching the man land on the moon on the black and white tv in primary.
My nana used to go to church every sunday and believed she could see God
in plants and nature. Her earlist memory is watching the man land on
the moon on black and white TV whilst at primary school. her father
was Plolish and her mother was from bondi. She never meet her dads parents.
Her mothers dad was a very good cook and in WW2 and the great depression
My dad came to New Zealand in 2004 with my mum but as a child he lived in
England with his mum and dad before moving to Australia with his mum. As a child he
enjoyed basketball and computer-games. His earliest memory is traveling
to kindergarten on a bus.He remembers that both his grandparents worked
very hard manual labour jobs.
